HFK is used to couple electrical fast transients/swarm pulses to I/O lines and meets the requirements of European and international standards for counter interference testing.
The application of electrical fast transients/pulse groups to a signal line generally cannot be achieved by discrete capacitive coupling without interfering with the signal flow. It is usually not possible to have direct access to the cables to be tested, such as coaxial or shielded cables. EM TEST's solution is to connect the interference simulator to both ends of the capacitive coupling clamp to achieve coupling through capacitive coupling clamp.
According to Ed 3.0 of IEC 61000-4-4 issued in 2012, the calibration of the capacitive coupling clamp is carried out by 50 ohm coaxial load using the standard calibration component ICC PVKIT 1.

CCI PVKIT 1 Calibration Settings:
Calibration of capacitive coupling pliers
IEC 61000-4-4 standard Ed 3.0 recommends that the capacitive coupling pliers be calibrated. EM TEST has developed and designed the CCI PVKIT 1 calibration module in accordance with the requirements of the standard.
The following facilities are required for calibration:
CCI PVKIT 1: Includes sensor board and support accessories
PVF 50:50 ohm load resistance
PVF AD 3:4 mm adapter for connecting sensor boards to SHF coaxial connectors for KW 50
Calibration Settings:
The sensor plate shall be placed in the capacitive coupling clamp so that the end of its connecting adapter is aligned with the edge of the coupling plate. The connection adapter PVF AD 3 is connected to a low impedance connection band and connected to the ground reference plane of the 50 ohm coaxial measuring terminal/attenuator. Connect the load resistor KW 50 to the AD-CA EFT adapter. The PVF 50 is positioned at the same height of 100 mm from the ground reference plane as the coupling clamp using the acrylic support attachment.
The distance between the sensor plate and the PVF 50 measuring terminal/attenuator should be less than 0.1 m.

Coupling clamp calibration:
To calibrate the capacitive coupling plane, the open circuit voltage of the electric fast transient/pulse group generator (50 ohm output) is set to: 2,000 V
The resulting output voltage across PVF 50(50 ohm matching resistor) is 1,000 V
Measurement voltage Vm: 10 V
Voltage value measured by oscilloscope at 50 ohm input impedance: 5 V
The resulting attenuation value (theoretical) : 400:1
