　　OLE (Optical Lin Extender) LIN-Bus fiber optic extender, using optical fiber to extend the LIN bus, used for automotive electronic immunity testing, including free field, stripline or TEM chamber testing.

　　LIN is an acronym for Local Interconnect Network. This is a low-cost, low-speed, serial communication bus for distributed electronic systems within vehicles. This is a class that complements other buses like CAN for faster or more demanding applications. It is a single-wire bus whose connections typically use very cost-effective smart sensors and actuators, where the bandwidth and versatility of a CAN connection is unnecessary.

　　Fiber optic extensions to the LIN are required to improve performance in anechoic chambers for testing sensitivity.

　　In this case, the LIN analyzer or any other components attached to the LIN (auxiliary test equipment) usually in the control room are generally placed outside the radiation area, but the EUT attached to the LIN network must be radiated by a transmitting antenna.

　　Decoupling between the EUT and auxiliary test equipment is easily accomplished with a fiber optic cable inserted between two transceivers, converting electrical signals to optical signals and vice versa. Because automotive EMC testing requires high electric field values, at least indoor transceivers close to the EUT must be RF shielded.

　　The composition of the OLE extender:

　　Two identical transceivers (RX/TX unit) are called OBE-LIN. Each unit can be configured as LIN master or slave standard through a manual switch. OBE-LIN does not contain batteries.

　　The OBE-LIN unit is placed in the dark room and powered through the EUT 12VDC battery positive node (VBAT, GND).

　　The OBE-LIN unit is placed outside the dark room and powered through a 12VDC dedicated power supply.

　　An OBE-LIN-ALIM power supply 12VDC/0.5A supplies power to the OBE-LIN outside the anechoic chamber. VBAT, LIN bus and ground terminals are available for user connection on the DB9 (female) connector.

　　A two-wire fiber optic cable FBxxx, xxx is equal to the length in meters. The standard fiber optic cable is FB010, 10 meters long. The optical fiber connector is ST type, and the size of the optical fiber is 200/230 um.

　　Two DB9 (female) connectors, user can use for connection.

　　The cable between EUT and OBE-LIN is the responsibility of the user. Connections can be problematic where radiated fields are present and must be short.
